EIN (Employer Identification Number)

A unique nine-digit number assigned by the IRS to identify a business entity for tax purposes. Also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, an EIN is required to establish a Solo 401(k) plan. You can apply for an EIN online at IRS.gov at no cost.
