An IRS rule that treats all of an individual's Traditional, SEP, and SIMPLE IRAs as one combined account when calculating the taxable portion of a distribution or conversion. This is particularly important for backdoor Roth IRA conversions—if you have pre-tax IRA balances elsewhere, the conversion will be partially taxable based on the ratio of after-tax to total IRA funds.
